Aerial Apparatus: Use and Training Drills for the Truck Crew

This Webcast will begin by comparing the Pro’s and Con’s of Aerial Ladders and Platforms as well as the operational differences of Rear Mounts and Mid Mounts. We will also discuss short jacking and stabilization issues including the use of envelope control and smart technology. Positioning an aerial for effective use on the fireground varies, depending if your assignment is window rescue, roof access or fire attack. Positioning for these positions will be reviewed. We will also look at a number of aerial device failures and offer some training ideas for teamwork and operator skills. Lots of pictures and videos, you don’t want to miss this one!

LOUIS SCLAFANI has been a member of the Pinellas Park (FL) Fire Department for 30 years. He held the position of shift district chief for 19 years and was training chief for three years.
