ROANOKE COUNTY, Virginia — Roanoke County firefighters recently purchased nine new thermal imaging cameras thanks for funding from a state program.

WSLS reports that the money came from the Virginia Department of Fire Programs.

Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Charlie Rucker told WSLS that while the cameras will be used to locate victims and hotspots, firefighters will also use them in the decision-making processes and to analyze the fire environment before fighting a fire.
