Firefighters had to escape through a window

NORTH EAST, Maryland – WJZ reports that a fire at a vacant Cecil County home that injured four firefighters Wednesday has been ruled arson, according to the state fire marshal’s office.

The fire occurred at Lakeside Mobile Home Park in the 100 block of Superior Court near North East.

The fire marshal’s office said a sheriff’s deputy arrived before firefighters and ran into the burning mobile home, thinking someone was inside.

Firefighters made entry and conditions deteriorated quickly.

The firefighters had to escape through a window.

Two firefighters were flown to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital in Baltimore and a third was transported by ambulance. The fourth firefighter was transported to Union Hospital.
