Hingham union urges town to reconsider
HINGHAM, Massachusetts – CBS Boston reports that Hingham Firefighters Local 2398 is refusing to remove ‘Thin Blue Line’ flags from fire apparatus and is urging the fire department to reconsider its decision.
The flags were being displayed leading up to the anniversary of the death of Weymouth Sergeant Michael Chesna‘s death.
In a Facebook post Local 2398 stated that the flags are still up, and its members will not personally remove them.
The union also denies that the flags are political.
Sgt. Chesna’s widow Cindy posted on Facebook against both police reform legislation in Massachusetts and the Hingham fire department’s decision to remove flags.
