Kinloch firefighter shot in the head has been responding to basic commands
KINLOCH, Missouri – The Kinloch Fire Protection District told KSDK that Firefighter Arlydia Bufford had surgery Wednesday afternoon to repair a bullet hole in her skull and to place a shunt to drain excess fluids.
The department said both surgeries were a success.
She remains in critical, stable condition and has been responding to basic commands.
Firefighter Bufford was having dinner with a fire captain after finishing training Monday night when a gunman shot her and two other women inside the restaurant.

The fire captain was not injured and was able to help the other victims until other first responders arrived.
A fundraiser will be held Thursday for Bufford to help pay for medical expenses.
The fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, June 25 at Ferguson Brewing Company, at 418 S. Florissant Road in Ferguson.
The brewery will donate 20% of all dine in and carry out orders to Bufford.
At the request of the family, the fire department also set up a GoFundMe page for Bufford.
