Iowa Fire Department Makes Changes after LODD

Open and increased training in Clinton

CLINTON, Iowa – One year after an explosion killed a Clinton firefighter, the department has made changes in training and other areas.

KCRG reported on what has changed since January 5, 2019 when an explosion at the ADM plant killed firefighter Eric Hosette and injured firefighter Adam Cain.

Officials said they have opened training to ADM personnel regarding silo incidents.

An OSHA report on the 2019 incident determined that an unknown gas was accidentally releases into the silo causing the explosion.

Additional changes also included department events bringing together Clinton firefighters and their families.
