Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
To make a difference. I joined the pipeband to show my pride and heritage. I wanted to support the families of fallen brothers while celebrating traditions within the fireservice. Promoting healing and honor but also enjoying fellowship with my brothers who perform as piper/drummers.

Top Issues Facing Responders:
Complacency, apathy... a loss of focus and love for the job. The traditions are still there if you're still intrested in knowing what they are. Man has been putting out fire since before he knew how to make it and mistakes still keep happening that have happened previously. I wish I only played old retiree funerals and parades but its not the case.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
its who I am and would be lost without the job. I like being the "go to guy" under fire

Overtime a Problem at your Department? This Chief has an Answer...

So a guy in our band says he's about to loose overtime and a station to a city with no budget and a chief out of answers. What do you think? HOBART, IN Fire Chief William McCorkle sees the temporary shutdown of Fire Station No. 3 as a road test toward a possible permanent closure. About the Band

The Band of Brothers pipes and drums is made up of firefighters who currently work for union departments. The body of members are from the following Chciagoland departments: Chicago, Naperville, University Park, Calumet City, Hamond, Gary, Hobart, and Frankfort. The band, formerly known as Hammond Fire Dept. pipes and drums, began in 2002 and has grown to 30+ members. We play funerals as well as FDIC, Maryland, Colorado Springs, and various parades. oh ok now I remember, I no longer work at the plant. was removed because I was a pain in the ass and called OSHA and got them a big fine. need to contact me sometime and I can tell you how john pierce has run that plant into the ground. send me an e-mail with information. have a good day

welcome to FF nation .. Happy to finally see some other active bandies here .. If you look hard enough thereare currently 3 fire band groups here, None are terribly active but there is interest in what we do.. on many levels
