Years in Fire/EMS:: Been doing holistic work for 13 years and provide discounted rates to FF/EMTS/Police/US Armed Forces. Going back to school for Medical or EMT/EMS Training.

Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:: I am a Certified Reiki Practitioner/Teacher in the holistic field who provides discounts and volunteer work for those who serve and protect our communities with Reiki such as FF, EMS Personnel, Police, and the US Armed Forces. Reiki is currently used by Nurses and other trained staff at Brigham and Women's, Jordan's, Children's Hospitals, and Dana Farber Institute pre/post surgery, during medication or procedures, and after chemotherapy. In the 1980s Reiki was a sought after treatment by the US Government for soldiers who returned home from duty.

I would like to find local fire houses, EMT companies, police depts. where I can help with their emotional issues after responding to a call and the trauma, stress, bereavement, and pain associated with their work. I realize that there are counseling services, but Reiki helps to relax the body and mind.

My calling should have been an EMT but if I can help those who help out our community and give back that way it will make me feel fulfilled in my work.

Any Volunteer Departments in Southern Massachusetts?

Are there any volunteer departments in southern Massachusetts? I'm still interested in volunteering. I looked into my town in Bwater and they don't have one. Thanks to all. Take care and god bless you. Holisticgirl

What is the age limit to join the Fire Department as a Volunteer?

What is the age limit to join as a firefighter volunteer? Something I was thinking about for a long time but maybe I'm too old! I"m 46 but in good health. If I cannot get into a department I may look into other emergency services or crisis training. Thanks for any help, guidance, or suggestions.
