Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:: I have always wanted to be a firefighter and/or EMT since the early 70's due to the show "EMERGENCY". I married a fire fighter/EMT and several years later he became the fire chief of our locla department. After a few years and arguements, he decided to let me join the dept and take the classes to become a certified fire fighter. Then I had the opportunity to take the EMT class and so I did. Six months down the road, I completed my course and tested for state and national and passed. I am having the time of my life doing what I have dreamed of doing for for 15 years. I love every minute of it and am so glad to be able to help others in a crisis or in time of need. Follow your heart and dreams, dreams can and do become real. Just ask me. I had the pleasure of attending the Arkansas EMT conference in Hot Springs this past July and meeting Randolph Mantooth, of the show EMERGENCY. It was awesome time and enjoyed listening to everything he had to say. Also, getting my picture taken with him.
