BUDGET CUTS

HOW DO WE AS SMALL TOWN VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS SURVIVE ON A SMALL BUDGET? THEN THEY WANT TO CUT US EVEN SMALLER.I WORK OFF OF A $7500.00 A YEAR BUDGET IF THEY CUT IT ANYMORE WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RESPOND DUE TO INCREASE IN FUEL COSTS.PLUS WE HAVE ONLY 2 APPARATUS AT THIS TIME. CAN SOMEBODY HELP US OUT WITH A PUMPER OR INFO ON HOW TO RAISE MONEY OTHER THAN CAR WASHES AND DANCES.

Hey Chris, Just read your post in the forum. Have you heard anything from the fireact grants yet? Something you might want to try also is going to your local U.S. Congressman and explaining your situation. They may be able to help you with govt. surplus equipment, or even help find funding for your unit/s. Also do a plea for help thru your county newspapers. Have them do a story on your situation and your lack of funding. You may just start to get extra donations & maybe the county will be shamed into properly funding fire protection.
