Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
Firefighting has always been my life's calling. I entered the Army in 1989 planning to serve one enlistment then return home to become a Firefighter. Well, in that first enlistment I got married to another Soldier, had three kids, and my wife wanted to stay in the Army..Flashforward to 2005, I was miserable with life, was deployed, and decided I really wanted to get into firefighting, so I began Volunteering with my local FD in Georgia, where I was stationed. Now I'm getting ready to retire from the Army and enter my next career in Firefighting/Emergency Services.

The Biker

This is borrowed form a friend who sent it to me. Please feel free to share with friends, family, fellow firefighters, and anyone who drives. Greenman THE BIKER I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But, you didn't see me, put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local mall. I saw you, change your mind about going into… Continue

Keep your boots in your bunker pants

Fill the boot. Do our fundraising efforts affect the way the public we serve views us? Of course they do. Every interaction every one of us, individually and collectively, has with the public gives our citizens a new perspective on us. Every time we arrive promptly and professionally to the scene of a call, we give an impression of ourselves. Unfortunately, every time we do something which demeans us in the public eye, we also give an impression...sometimes an underserved impression. As a volu… Continue

A full head of steam....with caramel drizzle

“Firefighters just like to hang-around the fire station and drink beer until there’s a fire.” How many times have you heard someone express an opinion like this of Firefighters? Probably too many times. It’s a hard opinion to change when people read about Fire and EMS workers getting into trouble with the law for alcohol-related issues. It’s an opinion which is re-enforced by some fire stations in some parts of the country having bars on their premises. Many departments, especially volunteer d… Continue

I really liked the helmet shield that had your name on it. Did you do this in photoshop? Good job. Thanks for keeping our country safe, working in Korea... sounds cold to me. I work on the coast, looking out at the Santa Barbara Channel Islands. Off duty for another month, post knee surgery. If you get bored, or need any cool training stuff, give me a shout. I've got the time... : D Stay safe brother, Mike

I have heard of Pyeongtaek city, never been there though. Isn't it located in the Kyeongee province? I had spent that province 3 years for my enlistement...
If you are interested in Ulsan Fire Service, I will show you around my city and departments with my heart.
