LAFD Chief appears before city council budget committee

L:A Fire Chief Millage Peaks faced down the City Council Budget Committee Tuesday with his plan to save the city nearly $200 million in pemanent savings over three years and provide greater protection for the public than has been achieved with rolling brownouts since 2009. Peaks' plan, based on a complex computer analysis of numerous factors, would actually keep more ambulances available and keep more fire stations open but police and firefighter unions have thrown their enormous power against him and Council members are blinking
