Kill The Flashover Project - Here is interior video from the first burn of the day during Kill the Flashover 2012 in Albemarle, NC. This fire was one couch ignited from a torch. The fire was extinguished using plain water with an under pressure (air intake) transitional fire attack. The attack crew exposed the entire window which gave them an air intake. The crew was about six feet from the window and flowed their line on an approximately 30 degree fog stream into the air intake flow. Once the fire darkened the crew moved to the window and rotated their stream several rotations in a clockwise motion. Once all visible fire was absent the primary attack line became the back up line.
The rear line advised the line at the front door that the fire was darkened. The secondary line then became the primary line. A Tempest electric blower was started in the front door and that line then advanced to the fire room. The crew arrived in the fire room and, using an ISG thermal imager, examined the fire room. The remaining areas showing fire were extinguished and the fire was under control.
