Bridgeport Firefighters Battle Abandoned Factory Fire
Firefighters searched to make sure no squatters were inside.

DoingItLocal - Shortly after 8:30pm Tuesday evening firefighters were called to Stratford Avenue and Kossuth Street for a structure fire. It turned out the be the former AGI Rubber Comanpy at 141 Stratford Avenue, the building which according to the sign is under foreclosure. A report filed by Tom Cleary of the Connecticut Post interviewed Assistant Fire Chief William Hathaway who said "the fire got into the walls of the building and spread". The chief also said "the building was vacant but firefighters searched to make sure there were no squatters inside and found no one.
Because it was a commercial fire three ladder trucks, five engines, rescue company and two safety officer were called to the scene. Ladder eleven moved across town and one engine from Fairfield provided mutual aid.
The fire marshal was immediately called to the scene to begin an investigation to the cause. There were no injuries to firefighters.
