Miami Dade House Fire (helmet cam, part 1)

Posted October 9, 2009. Part 1. Unedited Spectacular helmet cam video. The first minute is Rescue crews sizing up the interior. Theres a delay while a problem w 1st due Fire Apparatus occurs. 2nd due pulls the attack line. At 2:11 you see first glimpse of attic being pulled and then an amazing couple minutes of attic roll over as the first line is stretched in. At 3:11 you hear a loud pressurized air leak. Never did locate its origin but it slowed operations for a bit while we evaluated the cause. At approx 4 min mark you hear Company Officers advising Command that the inside hose team is to begin knockdown (note that the initial video begins before first hose lines were even stretched but Rescue crews were searching for victims and hidden fire). And also note that when we have hidden fire we expose it, read it, then extinguish it, in most cases. We pulled ceiling at the door on arrival and no fire was there. At 5:45 the interior line finishes the visable fire in attic and moves to outside porch, then around the corner into a fully involved efficiency. At 7:01 still heavy fire in many spots. 7:22 Command strikes the 2nd alarm. All video is interior shots of the 4- Battalion 13 units working inside, R56, R36, A9, A36. www.battalion13.com

Ron - Agreed - working in an area with many teaching hospitals we often get well meaning medical folks eager to help or to try their new skills on the street. We inform them if they want to take charge of the scene they must accompany the patient...
