November 10, 2009. Allentown transmitted the box for a building fire at 13th & Hamilton at 0400 hrs. sending Engines 4, 9, 10, truck 1 and BC 4 (Grim) to the box. BC 4 arrives and reports a working fire in a large 3-story brick structure and immediately struck the 2nd alarm.

Engine crews found the basement of the old mansion fully involved. Numerous attempts were made to stretch lines into the basement and the third try eventually was a success. The bulk of the fire in the basement was darkened down. But trouble was brewing on the upper floors as the fire took off in the walls of the balloon-frame structure. Firefighters spent hours opening up walls and ceilings.

Chief 40 arrived on the second alarm and with smoke pushing from the upper floors struck the 3rd alarm. All city companies were in-service at the fire scene. Fire marshall's office and PD detectives are investigating the suspicous fire.

3 firefighters suffered minor injuries.
