Finally have finished my EMT-B class in 10 weeks that normally takes 5 months. All I have left to do is my ride time ( Evaulate 5 patients) and take the National Registry test. Hope I can do better this time than last time I did it 10 years ago, coundn't pass it. Hope the instructor this time is better then the last one. Have a hard time with tests and hopfully I can pass it this time.

Alan,

Good Luck!

You`ll get out of it what you put into it. Don`t blame an instructor......afterall, it IS up to you to study and know the material.

You only have to have 5 pt assessments? Dang, when I took my first EMT-B in Ohio in 1983, the class was 248 hours, ridetime was 80 hours and ER time was 40 hours. My how times have changed. I was a fool and let my EMT-B lapse while I was out in another career path. I retook the class in `07. Man, what a change. 154 class, 48 ride & 8 ER. Sad......and people wonder why some in our industry look like idiots.

Hey Alan,

www.emtb.com is a great resource to employ to help you study. There is also a youtube video out there to help you prepare for a trauma testing station. It shows a pretty good dcapbtls trauma assessment. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1dwNDahGLk Good luck!

Is there anything out there that is the same as the national test that I can study for before I take the test.

If I may;

1. Don't fall into the scenario questions. Don't read into them. They are what they are as you read them.

2. Read the question and all of the answer options in their entirety. Generally, in an abcd type question, you can rule out 2 options rather quickly, giving you a 50/50 shot of getting the answer correct.

3. Keep in mind that airway, breathing, circulation and c-spine will always be the priority of the choices offered.

Good luck!

Mother Jugs and Speed is better.....lol......Spoken by an old EMS dipshit. I say backdraft is by far my favorite. I just LOVE Chicago. That might be why I like it.
