Hello Friends

Hello to all my wonderful friends, and a great, big, Texas "HOWDY!!!" to all my new friends. I was going to send this out as a regular message through mail, but apparently the rules have been changed and I have to do it this way now. I guess I'll have to send out individual notes from now on or just keep blogging. I have been off for a few shifts due to a foot injury. I finally went to the doctor and had it xrayed. According to the doc, the best he can come up with is tarsal tunnel inflammation… Continue

Ike - The Aftermath

I originally sent this out to all of my friends, but thought that some of you might find it interesting, as well. Check out the link to see pictures of the aftermath of Hurricane Ike in Galveston, Kema and other towns. The last "really bad" hurricane I went through was in 1970 when Hurricand Celia hit Corpus Christi. I will never forget the fear I felt or the awesome strength of the storm as it destroyed the home we lived in then. Over the years, I have been through several "lesser" storms which… Continue

Why not post some pictures???

I have asked many a friend, or potential friend to post pictures of themselves on this site. Occaissionally, I get an irate boyfriend or husband writing to me and asking me to lay off their women. Well, guys, let me say this. I am only asking for pictures of faces. I don't ask anyone to post pictures that are the slightest bit racy or revealing. I simply like to see who I am talking to and making friends with. I'm nowhere near a buff, sixpacked, stud of a man, but I wasn't afraid to post picture… Continue

Frequent Flyers: Stories of Repitition

Ok, everyone. I know all of you in the EMS services have them. The frequent flyers who call every day or every shift and cause immediate stress reactions when the address is announced. What is it THIS time? Why do they call EVERY shift? It's easy sometimes to lose your cool and your professionalism with these patients. It's even harder sometimes to remember that every call to these patients could actually be a real emergency. Complacency kills. How many of these calls have you made? How many of… Continue
