Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:

I joined first of all to help people in my community. I started in 1984 riding with our local ambulance squad. Left there to start a family. Years later, friends/family were already members of the fire dept. Wanting to do something more, I decided to complete an application. Upon doing some family tree work for family reunion, I discovered that my Grandfather, Clifford Cook was one of the original founders of the fire department that I am a member. We are just celebrating our 45 yrs of service anniversary. (I guess you could say, It's been in our family, so I'm carrying on a family tradition.) Myself, my oldest son, and my husband are members. My daughter just recently joined our explorer post. I have one more son to go.

About Me:

I'm married and a mother of 3 children ages: 21 yrs, 15 yrs, and 12 yrs. I am a Registered Nurse at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown NY. Obtaining my RN licensure in 2006 from SUNY Delhi , Delhi NY. I enjoy being outdoors: camping, swimming, and hiking. I'm a NASCAR fan.

Side Jobs or Other Organizations:

I also recently became a clinical instructor for the Boces LPN program. This has proven to be very rewarding to me. I truly enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge with the students as they broaden their skills and knowledge bank.

Top Issues Facing Responders:

Minimal squad member response to calls at times. Being a volunteer agency, everyone has other jobs, most of which are out of our coverage area (we are a small rural area).
