CUTTING A HOLE IN THE ROOF IS OLD SCHOOL.WE HAVENT CUT A HOLE IN MANY YEARS SINCE WE HAVE 2 PPV.THEY ARE JUST GREAT AND A LOT LESS WORK AND IF YOU SET THE FAN AND VENT AT THE RIGHT TIME ,THE SMOKE WILL TAKE YOU TO THE SEAT OF THE FIRE AND YOU ARE ...

Engineco913 hit it right o the head. Each type of ventilation has its' place and application. It all depends on conditions, but it is critical to be proficient at both.

We use both all depends on the conditions at the time.

Art, I believe that PPV/PPA is actually less risky in smaller buildings than in multistory. PPA pushes the fire, and that fire has to go somewhere. The smaller the structure, the greater the chance that the fire will be pushed out an exterior ope...

Ben: I subscribe to the "John Kriska" school on PPV/PPA. The key is "when used properly" it can be a wonderful tool. When used "improperly", it creates more problems than it solves. I have no problem with their use in multi-story. I have no proble...

I haven't seen "fun" as an objective in the ventilation chapter of...well, any firefighting text there is. I don't object to having fun, but the quickest, most effective way to get clean air in and the hot, dirty stuff out beats fun any day.

Murfreesboro, TN
Years in Fire/EMS:

Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
Well it's not something that I grew up wanting to do. I didn't get involved w/ the fire service until I moved to TN. I worked on a horse farm where the owner was a capt. at M'boro f.d. & he got me involved w/ volunteering b/c I needed experience before I could get on full time. Wasn't sure I even wanted to do it until I caught my first fire then it was all over. I knew that from then on I found my calling. Just wish now that I had started sooner.

Things are going good, but they have also slowed down all of sudden. There are a lot less cars on the road now, that is for sure.

Looking for this EMS gentleman.docxI am looking for the gentleman in the photo whom I believe lives in the area of Georgia. He has done nothing whatsoever wrong, nor am I chasing him for anything, but someone is operating in the UK on the pretence of being him and attempting to extort money from innocent people and I think he should know all about it. After all, this is not only an indictment on him but also on the trust people have in the EMS services (I refer to the attached photo displaying the EMS badge which has been deliberately used to promote his honesty). I know I would want to know if it was being done to me. So if you recognise him, can you please advise me or ask him to contact me directly at english.anniemoon@yahoo.co.uk or phone on 00 44 1566 770 751. If you or the gentleman in the photo would like to call me, I am happy to call you straight back and I will give him all the details on this matter. Stay Safe Annie

Truck work is some what of a passion of mine. It started when I first got into the fire service. The Ladder Truck was the second out unit, and I lived far enough from the station that I hardly ever made first out. So I was exposed to "truck work" early on and liked it.
