- It is in my blood. My father, who passed away at age 60 in 2000, joined the department when he was 16 and was Chief Engineer and their main driver for what seemed like forever, and my brother has been a firefighter for 19 years, taking over my father role of Chief Engineer, which he still holds presents. There was no question whether to join or not, it just came naturally.

- Haha-I'm also a full-time student studying Medical Coding/Billing and just started EMT-B class again!
- Top Issues Facing Responders:
- Safety issues and the many challenges and expectations that departments are putting on many volunteers now. Some of them seem excessive while other are normal depending on where you go. Some departments require so much mandatory training that you forget whether you need it again or have to start over. Many of us had our training, over and above what is required, been in thick of it and are still here. Its seems like its becoming very political now.
- I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
- The rush you get when you are putting your gear on an jumping on that truck!

My name is Amanda and I am trying to figure out what products are best for female firefighters. I have worked as a firefighter for only three years so I am just getting started. Currently I am a student at Eastern Kentucky University in in the Fire & Safety Engineering Technology Program. Although I have only been a firefighter for three years I have had my fair share of small gloves that were still too big and pants that went up to my belly button! I was wondering if you could take the time out of your busy schedule to share some of your favorite/best fitting/most functional products for female firefighters. Weather it’s an awesome fitting pair of pants, A polo shirt that has sleeves that do not go down to your elbows, a pair of great gloves, or boots that have an awesome fit.
