About Me:
21 years old grew up in this small town called Ferndale Washington, which isn't so small anymore. I grew up just knowing that I wanted to be a firefighter. Nobody in my family or any relatives are but I just knew. I had family friends that were volunteers at a station down the road from my house and when there pagers would go off I used to pretend that I was responding, but of course I wasn't old enough yet. So I am just volunteering for now getting as much training and schooling as I can, because I want to make this my career hopefully very soon. I know its hard to get into but I just know deep down this is what I was meant to be and that it will be my career someday no matter how long or hard it takes to get it.
Day Job:
Construction
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
I love the camradarie and the adrenaline rush you get out of it. I also just like giving back to my community.

OMG!! How was the party? Apparently there are pictures, on facebook, Jason VanDyken posted some. Let us just say there was some interesting moments! You missed a good one, next time. The 4th annual pirate costume party is July 18th this year, I will let you know where, it's Jay and my turn, so probably at our place, this is the famous one, trust me.

I've been home all weekend and we didn't get anything, maybe my luck is running out. Wow wouldn't that suck, no more fires, that would blow.

Sorry I missed your call. Irvin is critically ill in ICU in St. Joes right now, so I am getting in as much work as possible. I realize that this is a little short notice, but we have Judith Kuleta from Bellevue Community College coming in tonight at 1800 in Classroom D to talk about our new AA degree program. If you are interested you are welcome to come. If you have your FF1 certificate and any college transcripts if you have been going anywhere for that kind of stuff. It is an exciting program, they have accepted our recruit academy as 24 credits, EMT as 8 credits, and the rest is on-line. We also have a tuition assistance program in which we will pay up to $200 for each class completed up to $600 per year as long as you are enrolled in a Fire Science related classes through them. So you dont even have to go to their campus! The only catch for you would be you have to be a member of D4. D7 is not participating in this program, bummer! Anyway, I am in the office as much as possible and we have a PHTLS class this weekend, so I will be around. You can always call me on my cell 739-7487.

Just give me a call during business hours, I am often outside training or running out to meetings. I would love to see you anytime.

Depends on the department, and how much you want to put into it. We pay up to $95. a shift for officer qualified, probationary starts @ $40 a shift, or day shifts here are $10. an hour. My kid, Derek, quit his job because he could actually make more pulling shifts! Check around and see what the pay that is offered is. It shows that you are interested, and that you have the desire to stick it out, get the training, and you have demonstrated that by working the part-time angle. Also, pursue FF2 classes, never just stop at FF1/EMT. Go for everything you can get ahold of. That demonstrates the love for the job. Also, you can actually make a pretty nice living at it. Also, it is a good doorway to paid, always!!!! You demonstrate experience when you go for something like part-time paid. Hope this helps!

At least you can use lights. Where I'm from State Law & most insurance's prohibit POV's from running lights until the vehicle is stationary. Even though it would be really scary to see some of the volunteer firefighter's around here allowed to run...

Wow - reading that article I'm thinking - "Is this New York State they're talking about?" I have to disagree - the first problem is getting people to join up. In many VFDs here that's as easy as filling out an application and paying dues. New mem...
