- Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
- I became a part of the emergency services because I wanted to make a difference. I was hurt in an accident and the first responders and the Ambulance crew was so frazzeled and busy that they were not very friendly to me...I understood that they had a job to do, but I remember being VERY scared and them not helping to calm me down. I wanted to be the one the scene that could have calmed me down or at least told me what they were doing to me so that I would not have been as scared. I promised God that if I survived I would go to school and become one of those people. I am slowly getting there.

- Sorry to hear about the child and that your having a hard time dealing with it... Does your dept. have someone come in and talk to people if they have a hard time with a death? We have a fire dept. chaplin and we have everyone involved in the call sit down and talk about their feelings and try to resolve the problem if possible.... I wish I knew of way to help you out I know it's a tough thing... I wish you the best and if you need to talk and i'm online then i'm willing to try and help you as much as I can... Wow, that's out of control. Six priorities for emerg & non-emerg.
What's your opinion on that? I work in Fayette County PA and we're either dispatched ALS or BLS but we decide how to respond.
