If more city officials would do this, firefighters would be better paid and appreciated!

The rising temperature

Our temperature has hit 102 today, its hard to stay cool anywhere! Its especially difficult to stay cool at the fire and rescue scenes. Stay cool and well hydrated, you cannot help anyone if you are not taking care of yourself! Be safe!!!

Hi Candy, I joined this group to share our incredible wellness story with everyone. I helped my husband get well (and saved his life) and I got healthier, also. Many of our men and many of us need to get healthier. If you’re interested in more information about this life changing program please send me an email at: wellness2390@aol.com Thanks, Jan

Our rescue is part of the department. It has transport capabilities although we rarely transport. The private ambulance company does that. We are a Basic (in Illinois) response department. Engines go on medical calls as we can usually arrive before the ambulance. My station hasn't had a run since the MVA. In fact, our calls department-wide have been down these past few days. Maybe it is because of the heat.

still enjoy winter to an extent. The weather is a little forgiving today, only 93 degrees with a breeze. The heat index will go back up tomorrow. We've already had pin-in job today. We had him out in 9 minutes. My engine is one of two equipped with combi-tools. We still needed the ram from our rescue though. Hope you and your hubby stay safe.

My cousins grew up in Midlothian and some of them still live there. I lived in Northlake, Melrose Park and Blue Island before moving down south. I don't miss the traffic up north.

Did you ever work in or near Blue Island, IL? I got my start there many years ago as a paid-on-call. BTW, it's hot here in central Illinopis as well.
