Eric

Call me crazy!

For anyone that reads this blog post, I have one question. Am I crazy for what I'm about to describe?

I have a great job. I dispatch for my Village's Police Department. I sit in a cozy chair, answer the department phones, the 911 phone and the radio. I get the information and relay it to the officers that I'm working with. I do my portion of the incident reports, file a little paperwork, everyone knows the drill. I get paid pretty decent for it too.

What sometimes makes me wonder if I'm crazy… Continue

Eric

In loving memory of Nathan P. Brown

Today is April 6th, 2009. In another 5 days, it will have been 5 years since one of my best friends was killed in action in Sammara, Iraq. His name is Nathan P. Brown and he was one of the best men I've ever known. He was the type of friend that, though he may have not had much at the time… Continue

Whoops... the below photo was shot at Coso Junction off Hwy 395, this is the photo coming out of Darwin, CA that does Mt. Whitney justice.

Yes mate, the Maltese Cross picture was in a thread about what would be a more accurate name for the North American (and some other places) recognised FD emblem. And I can't think of the name that was used! The thread was started by an American who believed in adopting a more accurate name.

The 2.5 thread? I was certainly trying hard to keep things civil! I've not always been that well behaved, I must admit. I do try to behave myself though. ;-)

Things are good in my part of the country, but some rain would be nice (it's now winter). I'm losing track of how many years the drought has continued - maybe up to 13 years now.

You're in emergency dispatch eh? You would have liked that bad day we had in February - I think it was something like 5000 calls that day for fire only. Ouch. Mobile phones have been both a blessing and a curse really, we get calls quickly but we get too many people calling as well... Can't win, can we?

Really busy, the big fire photos you saw was I though would never see this big fire again. The last time was 5 years ago in our city. The fire was so intense several fire apparatus lights melted including us our rear light strobe. Last weekend we are really beat. After a 4 hour warehouse fire, then off we go to a 4th alarm residential fire at Taguig.

Hey, great photos on your training too. Unfortunately, we don't have a LPG tank exercise. But we know, that similar thing might happen. Oh well. I'll keep you posted.
