Overnight House Fire in Providence

At 23:17 on Thursday night Providence Engine's 15,14,6 Special Hazards Ladder's 6 & 2 & Battalion 2 were dispatched to reports of fire in the basement of 55 Curtis Street between Bosworth & Teresa Streets. Engine 15 arrived on scene and reported a "code red" with fire showing from the basement on side four of the three story occupied woodframed building and stretched a line for fire suppression as Engine 14 arrived and dropped double feeders, Engine 3 (safety) Ladder 4 (fast) Engine 7 / Air Supply & Rescue 6 filled in on the working fire assignment. On scene companies made quick work of the overlapping fire using three lines which had the majority of the fire knocked down within ten minutes with minimal if any extension to floor one. The recall was sounded at 00:26 with no injuries were reported during the fire, the cause is under investigation.

Vehicle Into House In North Attleborough

Shortly before midnight uptown companies were dispatched to assist the police with a vehicle into a pole in the area of North Washington Street (Route 1) & Elmwood Street, A second report was given by the police reporting the vehicle on fire inside a dwelling and Car 3 requested the balance of a Level A response. Engine 5 arrived and reported a pickup truck into side four of a two story dwelling with fire extending from the vehicle into the basement area subsequently a working fire was transmitted which brought in Plainville Engine 3 to the scene and North Cumberland for station coverage. Companies on scene stretched a line and began to make entry via side one but were unable to make the basement due to the truck blocking the interior stairwell and crews were backed out and stretched in via the side two bulkhead. The second due engine was delayed in dropping supply lines as the hydrant that was once stood in front of the house was now wedged into the rear of the pickup truck Plainville arrived and assisted in dropping LDH to a hydrant on Summer Street. Members made quick work of the fire knocking it down before it could extend to the upper floor and attic of the structure, The electric company was requested due to a pole snapped and wires down which caused a power outage north of the incident. Luckily no injuries were reported to the driver or the the residents of the house which was located at 420 North Washington Street, The Providence canteen responded to provide rehab for the members.

House Fire In North Providence

At Thirty One minutes after midnight on Sunday dispatcher Vernacio received a call from a town resident reporting smoke coming from a neighboring house in the area of 5 Vireo Street which runs from Woodward Road to Nemo Street, Subsequently the vocals opened up "attention Engine's 4,3,2 Ladder 1, Squad 1, Rescue 2 & Battalion 1 a still box". Engine 4 arrived first due and reported a "Code Red" with heavy smoke showing from a two story unoccupied wood frame dwelling and a aggressive interior attack was initiated with a heavy fire condition on the first floor possibly extending into floor two, Engine 1 & Rescue 1 responded on the fill in assignment. Crews on the fireground stretched three lines which made quick work of the fire in about twenty minutes leaving an extensive overhaul operation which lasted into the early morning hours. Providence Engine 7, Ladder 4 & Pawtucket Engine 5 responded mutual aid for coverage during the fire, The Providence Canteen along with numerous citywide members responded also. Two firefighters were evaluated and transported from their respective stations with minor injuries to area hospitals, The state fire marshals investigating the cause of the fire due to the residents being out of town at the time of the fire.

Vacant House Burns In Providence

At 19:10 on Sunday evening the Providence fire alarm office dispatched Engine's 8,3,11 Tower's 2&1 and Battalion 2 to the vicinity of 40 Arch Street which runs from Elmwood Avenue to Gilmore Street for a reported building fire. Battalion 2 reported heavy smoke from a distance as Rescue 1 arrived at 42 Arch Street and reported a heavily involved three story vacant wood frame, Engine 14 (safety) Ladder 6 (fast) Engine 7 / Air Supply & Rescue 4 responded on the working fire assignment. At 19:14 Battalion 2 arrived and transmitted a second alarm due to fire conditions and a potential exposure problem on side four, Engine's 10, 6 Ladder 5 & Division 1 responded on the second alarm as special hazards cleared a gas leak and took in the job. Incident command ordered a emergency evacuation of the building as heavy fire took hold of the upper floors and cockloft, Engine's 6 & 10 along with special called ladder 8 responded to Wilson Street to gain access to the rear of the fire building and setup for a exterior operation while fire alarm relocated Engine 2 & Ladder 7 to the Atwells Avenue firehouse. Firefighters remained defensive for about a half hour before the heavy fire was knocked back and interior crews could reenter for an extensive overhaul operation. Two firefighters were injured during the fire, the special signal canteen arrived to provide refreshment for the first responders. The fire is under investigation by the fire prevention office.

4th Alarm Transmitted In Milton Massachusetts

Early in the morning on April first Milton Firefighters were dispatched on Box 24 for 685 Brush Hill Road for a reported structure fire. Fire In Providence Commercial Building

around 18:30 Monday evening Engine 13 was dispatched along with ladder company 8 to 145 Carolina Avenue for a Commercial alarm sounding. Shortly after arrival Engine 13 requested the balance of a working fire for a heavy smoke condition in the one story 75x100 masonary commercial Moldwork factory, and stretched in a handline.
