Hello Thomas,

I'm a volunteer in east Texas and that is all there is for miles around. Recently I moved from southern CA where I grew up and I am used to paid FDs serving my area. It's just the nature of the beast and depends on where you live. One of my sons is on a paid FD in CA and I am very proud of him as well as he is of me. I honestly believe that regardless of what type of FD you are on, mutual respect is prevalent. Don't know you or your history and will tell you that some posters choose the wrong words but don't mean any disrespect. I suggest tactfully replying and choose your words wisely, be better then the ones who don't, and try very hard not to attack. As one of our FFN legends says "kill him with kindness", it will sink in. To the brotherhood and welcome to FFN. BillySFCVFD. TCSS

Hey Thomas, thanks for the add. It looks like your discussion has been deleted, which is probably for the best.

The membership of FFN consists mostly of firefighters - some career, some volunteer. It's hard to tell a lot of times, but one fact remains - we are all FIREFIGHTERS.

Welcome to FFN!

Joe
