Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
I've always been interested in firefighting and I moved to Russellville AR to attend college here last fall and a local fire department was low on numbers and recruiting new members. So a buddy of mine brought me to a meeting and I've been hooked ever since.

About Me:
I'm a sophmore at Arkansas Tech University and i'm majoring in Emergency management. Next fall, I will be attending the Arkansas Fire Academy for my Firefighter I & II certification. After i graduate college, I'm looking to become a full time firefighter for the city of Russellville, Bentonville, Springdale, or Fayetteville. Right now I'm with Crow Mountain Fire Dept. I'm a member of the Pope County OEM search and rescue team too and I'll be getting my EMT this spring.
Day Job:
Full-time student
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Training for rural fire departments and also making sure smaller departments have up-to-date (but more importantly safer) equipment.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
The thing I love most about being a firefighter is getting to help people when they are having an emergency and being able to give something back to your community. It's not just about putting out fires, but it is being able to help create a safer fire district for my neighbors to live in

I am really getting sick and tired of Senator Reid sticking his nose into things that he just needs to stay out of. This training is going to be a great training tool, and we need it. we should have more training like this so that we are prepared ...
