- Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
- I had a brother who was killed in a single car accident, near our home. We had a station 1/2 a mile from the house and his accident was almost a mile down the road. We didn't have many volunteers, so after the accident, I recruited 2 of my neighbors and we joined. I know that I nor anyone else may have saved him, but maybe we can help somebody else!

- Grew up here and spent most of my life in Hilton Head & Bluffton. Seen alot of changes, some good, some not so good. You can't stop progress, maybe slow it down but thats it. Started as a volunteer in 1992, became paid in 1995, now BC of Maintenance Division.

He has done nothing whatsoever wrong, nor am I chasing him for anything, but someone is operating in the UK on the pretence of being him and attempting to extort money from innocent people and I think he should know all about it. After all, this is not only an indictment on him but also on the trust people have in the EMS services (I refer to the attached photo displaying the EMS badge which has been deliberately used to promote his honesty). I know I would want to know if it was being done to me. The incident hindered my response by a minute or so which could make all of the difference. In this instance - no, I still made the rig (it was an EMS call). However, the "What If" factor plays a key role - the other drivers passing me didn't know...
