Top Issues Facing Responders:
I feel that there are major issues facing responders today. One of these major issues is the lack of personnel that volunteer fire companies/departments are faced with on a daily basis. This is the same factor that volunteer EMS associations are faced with as well. Pay personnel are always available to respond whenever they are dispatched to an incident. Volunteer departments have to rely on citizens that may have previous jobs or commitments that they are attending.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
I have always wanted to help people.

Happy Memorial day '09

I hope that all of you who are in the emergency service field or in any type of military service had a great day filled with joy and celebration. As we have spent the day reflecting and remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifices to protect, preserve and defend the freedoms and rights of the country of the United States of America. We are very thankful and grateful to all of these types of people who had done this and are still continuing to provide their services to our great country and… Continue

A medevac story from the Internet

Maryland to Revise Medevac Guidelines
Doctor's OK to be required before some chopper flights

The Baltimore Sun

In a move that could reduce the number of medevac flights in Maryland, state emergency medical officials announced yesterday that ambulance teams will be required to consult with doctors before deciding whether flying some accident victims to a trauma center is better than driving them to a local hospital.
The change, in response to a deadly helicopter crash in Prince George's County… Continue

Researchers from the two countries found that overall, less than 8 per cent of people who were treated by paramedics or firefighters for cardiac arrests in the home or elsewhere outside hospital were successfully res… Continue

News article from the Internet " Solemn Rituals Mark 7th Anniversary of September 11

By AMY WESTFELDT
Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK --

Familiar rituals of grief marked the seventh anniversary of Sept. 11 on Thursday as thousands paid tribute at the attack sites, the presidential candidates laid flowers at ground zero and children mourned parents they are barely old enough to remember.

Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama called off their campaigns for the day, and in the late afternoon descended the long ramp into the pit of the World Trade Center site, bowing their heads an… Continue

Good evening to you!
Do you write a column in Pennsylvania firemen that is entitled "fire police"? I was just wondering if this was you that is writing this column. If it is keep up the good work and I am a big fan of your column and of the Pennsylvania firemen catalog.
Sincerely,
Stephen J. Smith "
