You are so right Jim. We are in the need of just some Volunteers to help us at a scene whether it is a fire or MVA. Our Med calls are usually covered unless it is a code then you can use the standby help just to be availible in case something else...

Sounds like a typical City Commission wanting to get rid of the chief and get someone in there at a a lower pay scale. All they need is a reason. With no one commenting sounds like he does not have the support otherwise someone would be talking. T...

Ye I am sure it does just wondering what the other associations might be doing. It's mainly about outgoing officers that don't like it and are trying to come up with new way to get around it. We have the votes so its a done deal, we just need our ...

I couldn't follow all of your post but my county has an active firefighters association that is comprised of both all paid & combination departments. Your association should have bi-laws that address the issues your having.

That was good

We are in a combination dept. 25 vols and 6 full time and 2 PT. Other than the PT'ers everyone is involved in the depts business one way or the other by paying their Yearly dues. The president, the Vice president, and the treasurer are the Vols, o...

Well guys it doesn't matter now. We got it home, by me just driving it with a Class A. Had to go through all the scales between VA and FL. The only scales that had a problem were the ones here in FL, didn't like the fact that it was 48,000 on rear...

All we have to have is EVOC, Truck Co Opps, and have to be checked off to drive the truck
August 3
I know in Massachusetts I am pretty sure you don't need any special licence, just a valid Drivers licence to drive and operate apparatus. I know all I have is a regular drivers licence and I drive the Ladder in my city along with the engines.

In PA we are exempt but my chief makes drivers get cdls

Thanks TP, Yes there seems to be a grey area in the law upto 26,001lbs you dont need a license but it does not say about a 70,000lb truck other than if your a farmer hauling your own grain at 80,000lbs you dont need one. Chief says until its clear...

St Wood,
We recieve text books with each class we take and I have all of mine omewhere. The books are guidelines for the instructors and students to follow. The instructor fills in between the points in the books and class interaction with those points of discussion are are common.
One of the state fire police instructors lives just down the valley from here. I'll talk to him and see if I can get some of his extra material.
Welcome to FFN.
