Hi Shannon, I am a fire rescue instructor from NC. I have a sister and her family in W.Hartford. After seeing your comment on "Everyone Goes Home" you might be interested in a discussion I began on the rope rescue group. Check it out. Also if you like trench rescue you aught to come down to the Mason Dixon Trench Weekend inYork, Penn. I have taught in the program since 1994. It began in Baltimore County Maryland and has now moved a little further north. We will have between 7 and 10 open trenches at a time for the weekend. Stuff for beginners to experienced people.. Individuals or whole teams welcome. You can find by by searching under the name or Borough of Hanover FD, Penn. I think the tentitive date for 2009 will be 2nd week after FDIC. Just sent you an add. Stay safe, leave a comment on my discussion, and hollar if you have any questions. Jim

Neat! Must be a pretty big construction site/business to have its own fire department! Well, be safe and take care.

Hey-- I noticed you said your day job is On-Site EMT? What exactly does this mean? It sounds like you are working as a FF on a Dept that doesn't do EMS? Just curious to find out how different places do things. I'm a volunteer on a department that has integrated Squad and Fire. We're housed together and run together, and a lot of people do both, though it is not required.

So you are the Lt that keeps rescue captain Ladd in place so he does not get in trouble doing EMS. Tell Robert I said hi.

This question would probably do better being posted on the JEMS sister site but I havn't gotten around to creating an account there so I'm posting it here. Yesterday I had one of our newer firefighters ask me if it was ok to use adult AED pads on...

Some good points... some not so much. Let's not get into details. lol I understand that this was just a rant and I respect that because I have written a few myself. One important thing I have learned though is not to make generalizations about the...

Ummm... yeah. I'm a little confused about what you want us to say here. If you want my opinion about freelancing on a fire-scene, then ask me "whats your opinion about freelancing on a fire-scene?" And I can tell you in one short sentence-- Its st...
