- Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
- Been so long ago I forget why I joined initially! I joined my hometown department as a junior member and instantly got hooked. Since then I spent 8 years as a firefighter (Damage Controlman) in the Navy, and 8 years working in HazMat and emergency response with the Coast Guard. In my off time, I've tried to volunteer at a local fire dept as whenever possible. Now I'm finally settled in to a great department and not planning on moving again for quite a while! Can't imagine myself doing anything else!

- I've been a firefighter for quite a while -- joined on as a junior member at Pricetown Fire Dept near Weston, WV. Since then I have bounced all over the country as a firefighter with the military. When I'm not at my full time job at the power plant or down at the firehouse, I like to get out in the boonies camping, kayaking/canoeing, hunting, fishing, etc., or just spending time with my kids. I'm also a Combat Medic (MOS 68W) with the Ohio Army National Guard.

Getting politicians to realize that what we do is one of the most important and necessary things for the safety and well-bing of the citizens in the community, and that the Fire/EMS and Police Dept's should be the LAST thing to be cut in budgets, not the first.
