Hey, Russell;
How did you wind up in TN? GO BUCKS!

Russell,

There have been lots of changes since you were at Hilton Head...

Chief Fieldstead, Chief Perry, and Chief Green all retired.
Chief Osterman left and is now the Chief in Florence, SC.
Chief Thompson left and is not the Deputy Chief in Bluffton.

Chief Lucas is our Fire Chief.
Brad Tadlock is the Operations Deputy Chief and Ed Boring is the Support Services/Special Operations Deputy Chief. Mick Mayers is the A-Shift Battalion Chief and Jeff Hartberger is the B-Shift Battalion Chief. Chiefs Fister, Cooler, and Steedley are in the same positions as when you were here, except that Chief Fister is now the Fire Marshal. I've been the Training Chief for a little over a year. There are a bunch of new Captains, Lieutenants, FAOs, and a few new Senior Firefighters. It's been hectic, to say the least. We'va also had a lot more fire than normal for us, so that's kept us busy as well.

Memphis can be a tough gig. Good luck there. I had several friends that worked EMS for Memphis and every one of them medically retired before they completed 10 years, due to injury. Take care of your back!

Merry Christmas,
Ben

Hi Chief, Don't get the wrong impression here - we probably don't get any more than in other cities of similar size (1.5 million) and it happens in the same areas all the time. Most of the city is no problem at all. Thanks for your comments.
