I was with a volunteer department near Houston. I lost my regular full-time job due to th eeconomy in 1986. Needed stable employment. Was a good decision.

Top Issues Facing Responders:
Lack of good retiree benefits. Insurance will be sucking our pension checks dry.
Also need 4 man staffing minimum on every piece of fire equipment.
