Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
Well, It was a family thing, grandfathers, my father, uncles, you get the picture. And as my father said ' the worst thing I ever did was take that boy to the firehouse" when he was 2y/o since then he's there 24/7. I really enjoy the fire service and all it has to offer, but I also enjoy helping others when their not at their best or have befallen to some other calamity or disaster in their life. Yes, the fire service was in my blood. Thanks Dad.

Retired after being critically injured on the job, missing the Dept. every single day. But all's not lost, now I get to see my wife and children and do family things with them. I also am foutunate to still be able to impart knowledge to fire and rescue providers, and help the local V.F.D. CAN"T FIGHT FIRE'S ANY MORE, But I can still get a good cup of coffee and chat with new friends at the local V.F.D.

Top Issues Facing Responders:
Terrorism, Bio- Terrorism, The Economy, Budget Cut's less broters and sisters on the job. ( Back to overtime and minimum manning) station Closures. Health and welfare issues. More intense Training in the future.

I passed my test today. I got a 78. Lower than I expected but it's still passsing. The next thing I'll be doing is taking and passing my Dept streets test so I can start learning to drive my Company's pumper. Upward and onward!
