Profile Information

I Live: (City, State)
Reno, Nevada
Years in Fire/EMS:
26
Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
Desire to serve people, desire to make a difference.
Relationship Status:
Divorced
Primary Fire/EMS Department:
Reno, Nevada
Department Type:
Fire/Rescue Department - Volunteer, Fire/Rescue Department - Paid, Other Fire Department
Rank/Role There:
Captain, EMT - Basic
Dept. Web Site:
http://www.fire-stop.com
2nd Department Type:
EMS/Rescue Squad - Volunteer
Rank/Role at Second Department:
EMT - Basic
Other Past or Current Departments:
I've worked over the years with local, state and federal and contract career and volunteer agencies. Some of my experience ranges from Structural, Rescue, ARFF, Haz-Mat & Shipboard to Wildland.

I recently moved to Reno, Nevada for a Captain position with a wildland fire company based in California. Since moving here I have also become involved as a volunteer with Peavine in the Sierra Fire Protection District. I have to really complement ALL of the Reno area firefighters as I see a lot of proactive training and preparation being done here. With hundreds of earthquakes since the first of the year alone here in the Reno area, and the high fire danger here, the risks are very high and I am impressed with the professionalism of my counterparts here both paid and volunteer.
My Training:
Structural FF I & II, Wildland Strike Team/Task Force Leader trainee, Fire & Explosion Investigator & Fire Service Instructor I & II.
About Me:
I am pretty much a simple Christian guy that likes to fight fires, cookout, camp, scuba dive, fly, hike, watch movies, bowl and cross country ski to name a few things. Oh yes, and I go to church every chance I get and am involved in the Gideon's, Promise Keepers and Wild at Heart.
Side Jobs or Other Organizations:
Concealed Firearms Instructor. I have a small but very popular firearms academy and teach the Utah Concealed Firearms certification class nationwide. www.ccwacademy.com
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Funding on federal wildfires. Budget cuts and other funding concerns reduces the number of resources on many wildfires and firefighter awareness of our current world situation and the terrorist threats we as firefighters face, in the wildland fire profession specifically. Bottom line is Firefighter Safety & Awareness.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
Just being able to do my part.

I too love the .45 acp. I owned an XD40 when they fist came out. I liked it but at that time I was going to work as a reserve officer and everyone in the county carries the Glock 23 so I traded it for a 23. At that time it was very hard to find a duty holster as well as accessories for the XD.
I would buy another one in a minute if I could afford it and actually in .357. A friend carries a SIG in that round and loves it and claims the ballistics are better than the .40. But my favorite is still my .45 Springfield 1911. Funny quick story my wife and I took a trip over to Rock Island Ill. to go through the gun museum on base and decieded to go to Genoseo ILL. Which is where Springfield factory is and asked we could take a tour as b4 911 they would but they barely even let us in the front door. They don't do tours any longer kinda disappointing. B safe bro.

Hey thanks for the invite unfortunately probably won't do me much good here in IA. I went through the class several years ago in fact its been so long I'm grandfathered and don't even have to qualify. All of my friends are in law enforcement I used to shoot a minimum of 1000 rounds a month but now I'm poor (married with 6 kids Hell haven't been deer hunting for 4 yrs.) and can't afford it anymore, but god I love to shoot (my stress relief) I bet I haven't fired a round in a year but my finger is itching I have 5 handguns in my cabnet and just inherrited a 30-06 I haven't even fired it yet, my 1911 is my favorite then would be my Glock 23 then my SIG 226 althought I hate 9mm. What is your favorite weapon and round? Gotta go stay safe
