Years in Fire/EMS:

Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
I grew up at the fire house, my grandfather was chief of a small town FD, and I spent summers and weekends with him at the station. Often he would take me with him during the week as well so that he could watch Sonny and Cher. My grandmother did not allow him to watch it because Cher was not fully clothed. Of course I think that is why he liked it. I spent my time playing on the trucks, shooting pool, cleaning trucks, shovels, air packs, it was a great place to hang out with alot of great guys. I guess fire and safety is just in my blood.

The American Heart Association's position is; IF you only have adult pads, use them. What's the alternative if you don't?

If the police are aware of a weapon threat, they include armed officers in the response. Our usual tactic in these areas is to ensure we have an escape route - if the fire is in a cul-de-sac (dead end) we reverse the truck in so we can drive out q...
