Must Read Books for firefighters

As I finish a book, I will give it a review. Some of these books were on various "must read" lists. I picked the ones I was interested in. They are in no particular order.

1. Collapse of Burning Buildings by Vincent Dunn No review yet

2. From Buddy to Boss by Chase Sargent. This was a good read. As the subtitle suggests, this is about fire service leadership. However, it is not a dry, classroom type of book, He tells it like it is, with personal anecdotes to get the messages across. Some of th… Continue

Other fire service books

Here are some books about firefighting or the fire service. Some were best sellers, others just good books to read or look at.

1. Report From Engine Co. 82 by Dennis Smith. As the cover says, this is the American Firefighting Classic. If you are a fan of FDNY, you should read this. It is about the author's time in FDNY during the fire years.

2. Firefighters by Dennis Smith. Another book about FDNY. It tells about the lives of New York firefighters in their own words.

3. Braving The Flames by… Continue

He has had some of the older volunteers causing problems and for the most part its due to change. That and they apparently don't like to train or they feel that the 3 hours on 1 tuesday night a month on a subject taught once a year is sufficiant and we both know its not. That and those certain volunteers have the ear of certain aldermen.
