some state laws may come into play here, check into them. What I have seen in the years I served is that lights make the pov go faster, therefore unsafe! I have not run lights in many years before I retired and found I got to the station quicker. ...

Let me tell ya something, brother. I am excited that you are here! You may be "retired" from active firefighting, but I am glad you changed your mind, at least with this site. You still have a lot to give the "youngins" and you are already showing that by your recent posts. I believe that there is a need to pass on our knowledge. Your experience and knowledge doesn't have to be silenced by "retirement". Thus my excitement when you responded to my invitation. While we may never get to throw a ladder together, stretch a line, or overhaul a room again, know that at the very least, I will still count on you as a firefighter. You may have gone fishing, and you do deserve to do so. Save me a spot for later. The following has been said before, but I think it is appropriare here again. "Take a man fishing, and he'll eat for a day." "Show him how to fish, and he'll eat for a lifetime." I thank you for the many "fishing" opportunities we have shared throughout the years. I know I am the better for it!
Peace!

Both movies are terrific but I would have to say that Ladder 49 is my favorite.

Great topic, and your procedures are pretty similar to ours. I would add something about the driver rolling down his/her window before backing to be able to hear verbal warnings from bystanders. I know that the back-up person should have everythi...
