Roadside Memorials

Roadside Memorials,

Are they a hazardous distraction on our highway's and rural roads that can possibly cause more accidents ?
Or are they a sobering reminder that maybe we should slow down on this sharp corner,Don't drink and drive, perhaps not answer that cell phone or otherwise less distractions and more focusing on the road in front of us! Some people say tear down these memorials because they could be distracting,Others say leave them up to remind everyone that we need to be more careful wh… Continue

Burn to Learn

Pros's & con's

Are they environmentally safe? or even necessary.Live fire training does give the new firefighter a realistic environment for training. However simulations with smoke machines can be just as affective. Some say were hurting the environment,Others say live fire training saves lives by teaching fire behavior to new and exp firefighters. What's your thoughts and concerns on this subject?

Falling firefighters

Should Federal agencies such as Post offices,Library's and so on lower there flags when the state government asks everyone else to lower there flags in respect and morning of fallen firefighters?

In the state of Oregon we lost some firefighters recently and not once did i see a federal building lower there flag out of respect for our fallen brothers!

5,000 calls?! Wow, that's a ton of calls. I haven't hit the thousands of calls mark since I left California. No, my department is a very rural small department, if we run 30 calls a year it's because the weather cooperated with the fire season. (Or didn't cooperate, depending on if you like fires or not.)lol The lack of call volume is a good thing for property owners but it does make keeping the skills honed difficult.
