I was going to check in with the staff where the bus leaves before I run. The welcome info states it doesn't leave until 7pm I get in at 130pm. Maybe I will luck out and it will leave early!

Nick, you have to check in with people there at the place where the bus to NFA leaves from the airport. At least the times I went back you did. Might want to check into that before you take off and run around.

Any way you could change it to DCA maybe? I've never been through BWI so I can't help ya much there, just thought I'd suggest it to ya

Hey Nick, Too late I already booked the flight. I wasn't planning ahead I guess. DC would have been nice to see.

Fly into Reagan and you can hop a cab to check out DC. It's pretty neat, we did it a couple years ago when we had a long wait for the bus.

Well, if your an outdoorsman try Bass Pro Shops @ Arundel Mills Mall, not too far away. or you can go to the Baltimore Inner Harbor, Check Out BCFD Steadman Station, ESPN Zone, Aquarium, etc

Hi, I am going to the NFA in January, flying into BWI five hours before I can catch the shuttle bus. Is there anything to see or do near the airport or a cab ride away? Paul

A forum to explore the fundamental questions about leadership: why talk about leadership, what is leadership, what is a leader, how are leaders developed, what turns understanding into action leadership, and how can leaders make a difference?

I have to say...I have liked coming to work every day for the last twenty years, but...the older I get the harder it is to get out of bed for those night calls!!!

I would vote yes!! The IAFF is an excellent organization with endless resources. When it comes contract time bring in your IAFF Regional business agent.

I read this and Y2K comes to mind!

Kind of makes the troubles in our lives seem so petty. How many of us actually felt so strongly about something to make that sacrifice. I am glad this was posted. Paul

It is common for staff to take the training and run. There is no way around it without a contract stating they will stay for x number of years or pay the department back. As far as the "GODs" comments, I agree with damnthing.

Sorry it took me this long to reply. Politicians...one day they own a hardware store or sell real estate, and the next thing you know they become instant experts on the whole fire/rescue business. They can ruin an entire department that took a century to build in less than one term in office.
Let THEM do their job for free (volunteer their time) if they are so damned civic minded!

Back from RFTW XXI and seeing friends and relatives all across the US. Also spent four days at a Reunion of my 9th Engr. Bn. from Vietnam in New Orleans, LA. Good food, good people and lots of memories.

Well, I have found myself checking them for past patients sometimes. Especially the little ones. kids are my kryptonite I guess. In my spare time, I write comedy but guess I should stick to firefighting as I seem to be much better at it. lol. Thanks for your comment & be safe out there bro.

Yes, Kevin is an old friend of ours. We knew him back when he worked on snowblowers and lawnmowers in the winter to keep the money coming in. My wife and I are happy that he and Mona have made such a sucess of their buisness. Let us park at their venue in Sturgis one year and kept an eye on our bikes.
We leave for a cross country motorcycle trip tomorrow - Run For The Wall XXI - and will be gone for about 30 days. So, it will be awhile before I explore more of the Nation. I was invited to join by a friend I met through Wind & Fire who lives in Sweden. We finally met in 2006 on the W&F European Rally. 3 weeks of riding Harleys with other members and then 3 weeks riding on our own - such memories. Later.
