Shaving for a cure for cancer

Our fire dept took part in St. Baldrick's again this year and I chose to shave my head to stand in solidarity with those that lose their hair due to cancer. I didn't actually get out to raise donations because I was sick but still shaved my head. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, you can donate here: http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/shavee_info.html?ParticipantKey=2008-33618 Thanks ahead of time. We have all been affected by cancer in one way or another.

Cameron C. Carter

Even though we are continuing the search for firefighter/paramedic Cameron Carter, there will be a "Celebration of his Life" on Saturday.

Kenai resident Cameron C. Carter was reported missing Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, when the LifeGuard helicopter he was working on as the flight paramedic was reported missing in Prince William Sound near Whittier. Following an seven-day search, no survivors were found and it is presumed he made the ultimate sacrifice. He was 24.

Praying for our lost brother Cameron

8 days ago our Lifeguard helicopter went down. Onboard was one patient, the pilot, one nurse and one firefighter/paramedic (Cameron). The body of the nurse and the sliding door from the helicopter were found 3 days ago. Still missing, the pilot, the patient and Cameron. The search and rescue was called off yesterday due to continued bad weather and the fact that it has been 8 days since the incident. It is believed that the helicopter might be in water that could be in excess of 600 ft deep.

The incident hindered my response by a minute or so which could make all of the difference. In this instance - no, I still made the rig (it was an EMS call). However, the "What If" factor plays a key role - the other drivers passing me didn't know...
