My condolences. I lost my Dad in 2003. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of him. He taught me never to quit. When ,y family was sorting through all of his stuff they kept asking me if there was anything I want. I said give me my ...

Big fire.... big hose... small fire... smaller hose. 2-1/2" hose is going to wear you out but you have ALOT of water. 1-3/4" is easier to maneuver and lighter... but not as much water. If I was thinking about pulling a 2-1/2" I would also think ab...

In Iraq

I made it to Iraq on 7 July. It is hot here as you would expect. Days are long but not monotonous. I have some of the best people I have met in my years in the Air Force here with me. We have an amazingly strong joint relationship amongst the US Forces. That is really new to me also.

There have been a couple attacks but the insurgents can't aim. God really shields this place well. The daily temperatures are around 120 degrees. There are some things here I can't really speak of but I will try to… Continue

Off To iraq...

As usual the plane got delayed. So I am sitting in Norfolk Va waiting. I hate waiting. You would think after 19 -1/2 years in the military I would be used to it. NO!

Soooo.... what will I be doing over in Iraq? Fleet repair and management. Much of the reason I am a fire fighter is because of my vehicle back ground. I started out as a fire truck mechanic. More like a big kid with big toys. I LOVE fire trucks. When I promoted myself out of playing with fire trucks all day (thank you tax payers fo… Continue

Incredible Marine

Folks,
Take this in the light it is meant. This marine is both brave and funny.

Bring the fight to your enemy or they most certainly will bring it to you.

Hi Mike,
I posted the link on my blog post that you commented on---and your name goes on my race shirt regardless. If I was going to do this again next year (which my ortho surgeon is NOT recommending) I'd put it on there too.
I haven't been much inspired to write lately...this is busy season for me at work...but I promise to get back to it in another week or so.
Some day I hope you and I actually get to meet--thanks!!!

my family is a bit nuts too. but what can you do besides love them? can't fix them :) not that I'd want to even if I could, most of the time anyway. there are a few quarks that drive me nuts but it keeps life....interesting. are you all getting snow out of that system that hit us last night?

Old man winter was here while you were on the other side of the world. :) He might show back up again, so I wouldn't return the new coat just yet. Though i have been enjoying the break from the falling snow. 80+ inches in 3 weeks is just a bit much all at once. how's Montana? eastern Washington is currently under a stagnant air warning. I suppose I should be glad it's a change from winter weather warnings.
