I've been around the fire house for years. I desided to make career change. After some testing for a paid department in Maryland I was finely give the chance that I have dreamed of. That day I was also on my way to another job interview, knowing that I already had the job. Now faced with what to do. I had to do some major thinking. Take the 24-72 shifts of fire fighting or take to m-f job? Well after some talking with the wife I took the job monday through friday, where I am employed at the Harley-Davidson Motor Compay as Industrial Fire Marshal. There I'am in charge of the ERT where we respond to med. haz-mat and fire related calls with in the 230 acre plant. I have a large list of code inspection that I'am requeired to complete weekly , monthly and yearly. I'am required to investigate all fires. I also deal with the plaining of new projects that may need fire protection as in fixed systems and hot work permits...now layed off. but I still have mowing
Side Jobs or Other Organizations:

Top Issues Facing Responders:
man power, people dont want to give their free time to train.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
knowing that I could change someones life for ever

Yep thats what we are. Most of our departmet are security, ff, emts, haz techs and confined space rescue. we drive around in squad cars being "cops" then when the tones drop we change our hats and do whatever comes our way. Lots of fun.....
