Brings to mind people that buy a big "rescue Pumper", current movement int he country. In minnesota, there big, like a boxcar, and got stuff I never dreamed of on an engine when I was a captain. Then, these nice people go out and buy a mini pumper...

Any station will have Seagraves. 198 frontline engine companies. Near as many ladders, and Aerialscopes. FDNY folks are friendly to visiting jakes. Have a good time and report to us.

20 years ago I taught real fire ground friction loss. If you dont use it you loose it. We used a finger method to teach it. Water is very slippery to its own molecules but abrasive to everything else. If you double the size of a pipe, you increase...

Once a month is enough. Dragging dead horses around should not be a weekly activity. Saturday morning, one evening, checking the stuff and the apparatus, comradarie, training etc. Hey, this is what its about. The business meetings are a drag!!!!

Lets talk about the best place for the FMO to be at a fire. Top mount playing king of the hill, feet on the street where they belong, or worse yet, enclosed top mount pump operation?

Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
Started a fire department while a TWP Supervisor years ago, so I joined the dept.
Relationship Status:
Married
Primary Fire/EMS Department:
Seagrave sales=Retired Captain
Department Type:
Fire/Rescue Department - Volunteer
Rank/Role There:
Retired
My Training:
Extensive, served 8 years board of directors FIAM. Fire instructors association of Minnesota, edited newsletter 8 years.
About Me:
Nearing 70 years in June, working for RNOW Fire apparatus division. Seagrave Dealer for Minnesota and Wisconsin. Tough job selling real fire engines in this land of aluminum junk.
Day Job:
day and night.
Side Jobs or Other Organizations:
German Shepherd dogs.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Riding to an emergency in an aluminum and plastic cab is like riding in an eggshell. If you ride in one of these, always know whom is driving. Most of the old time custom builders have been run out of business by the marketing of the aluminum giants. The money made in the apparatus business is made on what you the firemen do not get!
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
Lifetime hobby=Job.
