Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
I feel I owe something back to the community. I was a 26 weeker at birth with next to no chance to live and supposedly no chance for anything resembling quality of life. Now I am 21 years old, and have no limitations due to my early entrance into the world and stint on life support.

I eventually hope to be a joint flight medic/ police officer with the Fairfax County Police Department Aviation Division once I get my butt in shape!

Until I get my butt in shape I hope to be a dispatcher :)

thanks guys, and fyi no I am NOT a midget... midget solely by height has to be 4'10" and I am 4'11" thank you much! and no I dont need a booster seat to drive the ambo or cruiser either..... booster seat is 4'9" lol :)

I absolutely LOVE emergency services.... there honestly hasnt ever been a time when i've freaked out on a scene, I just get in the zone and everything slows down.

I LOVE firehouse humor, even as a girl i think its absolutely hilarious, I will throw just as much crap right back at you guys as you throw at me and have a good time doing it!

back to normal!

Yesterday from 0900-1700 I was out at one of our local parks first doing some rope rescue training by repelling and rock climbing as well as hiking, then afterwards some of my group went caving and swimming in lower level whitewater.

My new knee bits held up fantastic! no instability, pain, or swelling!

I think I can now officially say that I am back to my old active self and can put away the constant fear of re-dislocation :) :)

yays :) I'm back!!!

After some lengthy discussion (I can be quite convincing when determined to be) my FD doc was willing to clear me to ride fireboard as long as I'm on a 3 rather than 2 person ambo crew so that I dont have to lift Pt's

So I had my first FD shift in over 100 days yesterday :) it was very very VERY good to be back!!! ..... granted we got the big goose egg as far as number of calls goes, but hey, i was back!

I'm at an aide tent for a festival in a more sketchy area of my county tomorrow so we'll p… Continue

::shakes nervously::

took the NREMT-I written exam today, and for the first time in my LIFE, I am not 100% positive I passed a test with flying colors... especially in regards to either criminal justice or emergency health services!

SERIOUSLY the questions were worded completely and utterly retardedly

agggggg

I had a 4.0 last semester and have a 3.789 overall for both criminal justice and paramedicine combined

If I don't pass I will feel like the biggest idiot EVER

::prays hard I passed the test::

My name is Adel and I am trying to figure out what products are best for female firefighters. I have worked as a firefighter for only three years so I am just getting started. Currently I am a student at Eastern algerinne University in in the Fire & Safety Engineering Technology Program. Although I have only been a firefighter for three years I have had my fair share of small gloves that were still too big and pants that went up to my belly button! I was wondering if you could take the time out of your busy schedule to share some of your favorite/best fitting/most functional products for female firefighters. Weather it’s an awesome fitting pair of pants, A polo shirt that has sleeves that do not go down to your elbows, a pair of great gloves, or boots that have an awesome fit. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share your opinions with me. Thank you very much. Please feel free to e-mail me back at adel_pomper@hotmail.com or leave me a commentDelete Comment

This is still improper. Nozzle man needs to get that line out in front of him for better movement and ease of control. Otherwise he is just fighting the hose and not letting the hose work.

I would say say go with both because on some things you are not going to have your turnout coat: minor TCs, EMS in the street, etc. You also always want to have a back up just in case. I am an Explorer and for our training excercises and my ride a...
