- Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
- I am actually a Forest Ranger with the Forest Service....I did take my Basic Firefighter Training Class in April of this year....and last year I took my Basic Law-Enforcement....the second year that I volunteered for the Forest Service my friend and I were chased out of the caynon by a firestorm that was in 2003...I had never experienced anything like it.....but it was at that point that I knew that working up there in the forests was what I wanted to do...I learned a whole new respect for fire that day and for our firefighters who go out there and fight those fires.

Mark Michelsen - Aerial Fire Fighter said… - From the airport I'm about 15 miles as a crow flies. We are higher than downtown and have a great view of it. I wan't able to make the fires last year.
Last time I was there was 2003 & 2005. Spent most of my time in Texas or at home last year.
