Increasing Wildland Fires - What Do We Do About It
You might have heard that Congress has passed legislation the help fund the Forest Service in firefighting. The USFS budget is one amount for firefighting AND funding the National Parks. As fires get worse, they have had to take money from the parks budget to pay for firefighting. - Well yes there is burnover, there's fire jumping the firebreak, there are "widow makers" everywhere....and you usually don't have the luxury of water at the ready if the crap goes sour in a hurry...But I am a fortunate one that can say "been there, done that...." Have had the experience of both scenes......

Had the chance to drive through Malibu two days ago. Looked for some signs of damage from the recent wildfires but didn't see much from Hwy 1. Stopped by 71's to use the facilities on my way home, met Greg and Scott? couple of ff/pm's on duty in the squad. Which station do you work at? Took a picture of one of you rigs on Hwy 1 that was sporting chevrons on the back of the rig. Is this a new standard for your engines now to comply with NFPA 1901? Take care, Mike
