Our Chief has our FF fill out a medical questionaire each year and calls it good. Apparently our physician signs off on everyone. I've been here 5 years and nobody has had a physical unless they just joined.

Having a physical should not kill you ,but help you .. If your like me in your 40s why not !! Iwas in a dept . in upstate N.Y. and I would do it just because you never know !! as a driver it really wont hurt . as far as interior FF depends on age ...

PESH enforces OSHA standards on the fire departments. They follow 29CFR1910.134 so you get cleared by your medical director to wear an SCBA. This usually requires a physical.

Does PESH or OSHA require NY firefighters to have a yearly physical or does the questionaire under 29cfr1910.134 cover this. Our department is having a battle over this. I feel our interior FF's should have them yearly.
